South Africans Fill Up Before Major Fuel Price Hike at Midnight.
Motorists across South Africa are filling up before a sharp fuel price increase takes effect at midnight. Petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin are all set to rise significantly, adding more pressure to consumers already struggling with high living costs.
South African motorists are making last-minute trips to filling stations before a major fuel price increase takes effect at midnight.
The latest adjustment follows rising international oil market pressure linked to continued conflict in the Middle East, which has pushed fuel costs sharply higher.
At the same time, the Automobile Association says it may take action if any part of the increase is found to be tax-related rather than caused by global market conditions.
Consumers are expected to feel the impact immediately. Petrol is set to rise by R3.06 per litre, while diesel will go up by an even larger R7.37 per litre.
The price of illuminating paraffin is also climbing significantly, with an increase of more than R11.67 per litre.
These increases come as households are already struggling with the high cost of living, placing even more pressure on transport and daily expenses. – JOHANNESBURG.
